FIREHOUSE FAMILY HOUSE

Originally the Potrero Hill firehouse for the San Francisco Fire Department, this building retired to become a Mission-style home for a young family of 4. Its hosting spaces were architecturally beautiful and only needed furnishings, finishes, and lighting; but the functional spaces – the kitchen, family room, and master bathroom – needed major renovation to make them practical. We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the family room, to create a flexible, casual everyday open concept space, and replaced the dated kitchen island with a more useful design (in the process we also painted the whole kitchen a vibrant Kelly green). Upstairs, we replaced and enlarged the windows, and created a serene master bathroom with breathtaking views of the city skyline from both the shower and bathtub.
