KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE, PALM BEACH 2022

“No Bad Mondays” is our sitting room off the primary bedroom, and our first design for the wonderful Kips Bay Decorator Show House fundraisers, benefiting Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in NYC, and the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County. We envisioned this room as a cheerful, sunny room to start your days. So many of us face the “Sunday Scaries” and have a “Case of the Mondays,” and having a dedicated space to begin your day with some gentle, easy wins – a quick morning meditation, a Wordle, a quick review of emails, your first cup of caffeine – would set the tone for a great week ahead. This room is also a love letter to all the families who left cities like SF and NYC during the pandemic, for larger pastures in South Florida: and we thought of how one might arrive into their new house, only to discover that all the furniture from their city living room now fit into the smallest room of the house!

We started our design, inspired by the iconic pastels of Palm Beach, choosing Benjamin Moore “Hidden Sanctuary” as our lavender-lilac pink. Porter Teleo created their handpainted wallpaper, “Tangled,” in a custom colorway to match. Our drapes, a humorous toile of beachy scenes designed by Sasha Bikoff for Fabricut, add a playful take on traditional – especially paired with the bauble trim and wooden shades, thanks to The Shade Store. Then in our signature style of layering antiquities with reupholstery and modern, we juxtaposed heavily carved antiques from Chairish with CNC-cut solid wood tables from Ottra (which are also refined and hand-finished via the techniques of traditional wood furniture-making!). We customized the center table to a continental table height (~24”) so that one can eat on, or work on a laptop from, this table at a comfortable height while seated on the sofa. Our sofa, recovered in Soane Britain textiles and Fabricut bullion fringe, is a nod to the former city life, as prior to the Show House, it was Noz’s own San Francisco sofa! Additional elements in the room are the brass chain pendant from Trueing Studio; sconces, floor lamp, ceiling wallpaper, and blue 1-legged console from Soane Britain; leather-and-suede bistro chairs from Ochre; antique Persian Heriz rug from Arsin Rug Gallery; monkey table from Currey & Company; and last but not least, our stunning artwork titled “New York Love” is by Bronx-based artist, James Sexer Rodriguez – a celebrated gallery-rep’d street artist and alum of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

Our room in Kips Bay Decorator Show House has been featured in Veranda, Forbes, and AD Pro.
